A Beautiful Wedding at Tower Hill Barns

September 15, 2023

Love (and alittle rain) were in the air at this rustic wedding venue

The unpredictable British weather keeps even the most seasoned wedding photographer on their toes, as this wedding demonstrated! Fortunately, this rustic wedding venue situated in the rolling Welsh countryside provided the ideal setting for a cosy and intimate ceremony on a drizzly day.

Sporadic downpours couldn’t dampen spirits, and the love between this happy couple shone through at this picturesque location. Tower Hill Barns is a charming, one-of-a-kind and exclusive-use wedding venue that provided Natalie and Tom with an unforgettable experience. With its wildflower meadow and manicured gardens, the venue epitomises understated elegance. This was my first time photographing at this rustic wedding barn, and it did not disappoint. I was instantly captivated by its superb location, gorgeous décor, and landscaped gardens. Despite the inclement weather, the romantic setting, the happy couple and their fun-loving guests made for some incredible photographs.

I met Natalie and her bridesmaids in the venue’s gorgeous dressing room. This purpose-built beauty and preparation room offers a luxurious and brightly lit space for pre-wedding bridal preparations. I worked alongside the incredibly talented hair and beauty artist, Rebecca Jayne, who helped create Natalie’s breath-taking bridal look.

Natalie and Tom were married beneath the venue’s impressive railway bridge. With its expertly restored brickwork and oak-clad walls, this space provided the perfect backdrop for an array of candid photographs of the newlyweds and their loved ones. The wedding party gathered in the barn for reception drinks and a delectable wedding breakfast, surrounded by the warm glow of flickering candles.

Just when we thought the day couldn’t get any better, the clouds parted to reveal a stunning late- afternoon light. The timing couldn’t have been better. The groomsmen kindly helped me assemble all the guests outside for a group picture with bubbles. With the formalities over, everyone had and I had so much fun taking authentic photos in the natural light. On reflection, the weather worked entirely in our favour, and I was able to capture all the photographs requested by Natalie and Tom.

We returned to the barn, where the party continued long into the night. I photographed the most marvellous dancing I have ever seen! The party atmosphere was wonderful.

The hospitality at the venue was second-to-none. From start to finish, the team went above and beyond to ensure everything ran smoothly. I was even treated to a delicious meal, which was a lovely surprise. I was incredibly grateful for their support throughout the day. Despite the rain, this rustic wedding was beautiful from beginning to end.
